Autumn is a time to slow down a little and look inwards. This can be a really beautiful time of year but it can also be a little challenging.
I have always loved and hated this time of year. When I was studying autumn a the time for fresh starts, focusing and getting my head down. This was in direct parallel to nature that was slowing down and preparing itself for winter. I never really minded as I could hide away from the cold and rain, getting lost in learning. The only problem was that there was never a time of year that I would slow down, I was always pushing forwards.
This is the first autumn that I am not studying or having to focus on a big work deadline and therefore this year I am going to try and slow down and prepare for winter much alike the trees, flowers and animals.
Have you thought about how you are going to slow down a little this autumn?
For me I would like to have lots of lovely epsom salt baths, read my book, savour hot chocolates, sit in front of the fire and enjoy the company of those around me. Just thinking about it makes me feel less sad that summer has gone and cosiness has arrived.
I recommend that you think about some of the things that you could do or would like to do this autumn.
I hope that you enjoy this month’s newsletter!

About the Course
Nutrition: The Corner Pieces focuses on the foundational building blocks (or puzzle pieces) of a healthy diet. The course begins with a personalised health and wellbeing review, through the use of a health questionnaire and food diary. Understanding where you are starting from on your health journey and thinking about what you would like to achieve is incredibly beneficial.
I will then teach you some healthy mindset techniques that will enable you to make the most of the course and take with you going forward. By the end of the mindset changing techniques module you will understand the best way for you to personally introduce new habits, so that you can quickly and easily start and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle long term.
Next I will then introduce you to the fundamentals of nutrition and why it is so crucial for your health and wellbeing. Before taking a deep dive into some of the key nutrition groups: hydration, electrolytes and carbohydrates.
The course ends with a final health and wellbeing review to see the progress that you have made as a result of the course.

THP Recommends
This month we are going to take a deep dive into air purification products.
Some of the items below contain affiliate links.
It is that time of year again where our windows are open for less time each day and we tend to spend more time indoors. The air quality within most houses if more often than not very poor. Think about the times when the sun hits a room and you can suddenly see lots of particles floating in the air. These particles are made up of dead skin cells, bits of hair, micro plastics from your clothes, carpets and household linens, and more.
Plus, these are only the physical particles that you can see there are also lots of chemicals within the air, such as, fire retardants (sprayed onto curtains, mattresses, sofas), mycotoxins (released by mould spores), perfumes and other personal care or laundry products, and more. All of these things have the potential to impact your health, especially over the long-term. Mould can cause fatigue and mood imbalances, dust can irritate the lung, especially in asthmatics and microplastics can mimic oestrogen within the body effecting hormone balance.
1. Patch (Plants)
One of the cheapest ways to purify the air is through specific house plants. Two of my favourites are Peace Lily’s (also known as, Spathiphyllum wallisii or White sails) and Snake Plants (also known as, Sansevieria, Mother-in-law's tongue or Viper's bowstring hemp).
I find that both of these plants are pretty difficult to kill off. I will water mine about once per week but have been known to leave them for a couple of weeks and they bounced back just fine. If you have pets then I would stick with the Snake Plant as Peace Lily’s can be toxic to dogs and cats.
There are lots of shops that sell these plants but one of my favourite online shops if called Patch (not affiliated). They provide an amazing service, education on how to look after your plant and a great product. Here is the link to the Peace Lily and Snake Plant.
2. Air Doctor (Air Purifier)
There are numerous air-purifiers on the market and you really have to be very careful when choosing the right product for you. Many air-purifiers will remove the larger particles, such as, dead skin cells and hair but the gaps between the filters are too large and will allow other unwanted particles through. When I was looking for an air-purifier I was specifically looking for one that would remove mould, mycotoxins (produced by mould spores) and microplastics from the air.
Air-Doctor has been tested to remove 100% of airborne particles 0.003 microns in size, while many other filters (HEPA) can only claim to remove 99% of air particles 0.3 microns in size. It has 4 speeds and can either be used on low continuously or at a higher speed for shorter bursts.
The filters are removable and you can easily take out and clean the first filter helping it to last longer. There are indicators on top to let you know when the filters need changing. I find that these last longer than the recommended times as I am only using mine in a single bedroom. However, the unit can be used to help purify numerous rooms at once.
The difference when you put it on, leave the room for 15 minutes and come back in is amazing. The air feels fresh, easy to breathe and pure. If you are looking to support and optimise your health this is a really great investment. To learn more click HERE.
3. Meaco Dehumidifier & Basic Air Filtration
Dehumidifiers were only something that I came across a few years ago and it has been a revolutionary find. You will want to read on if:
Your house has good insulation within the walls and/or roof.
You dry your washing indoors.
You cook with a poor quality or no extractor fan.
Your bathroom gets very steamy after a bath or shower.
You get condensation on the insides of your windows.
You notice any mould around your home.
You would like to dry your washing indoors faster.
Dehumidifiers remove water from the air. Water (also known as humidity) can build up in your home if it is created faster than your home can remove it. Water/humidity rises due to things, such as, cooking, having a shower, drying clothes or even breathing. This excess water/humidity creates the prime conditions for mould (various types and colours).
Moulds can be very harmful to your health and can lead to numerous symptoms, such as, fatigue, inability to think straight, mood imbalances, allergy symptoms (e.g. wheezing, runny nose, cough), joint pain, digestive issues, and more! If you would like to learn more about mould check out this book ‘Break the mold’ and to find out more about the Meaco dehumidifier I have click HERE.
